Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs 100,000+ people worldwide, and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. 

As a way to share all of their groundbreaking innovations, Lockheed Martin Space has its own internal video production team of 30 creatives that helps tell their stories – in keeping with the trend of major companies adopting an internal agency model for their communications. They boast over 65 million views on their YouTube channel, with over 325,000 subscribers and 928 videos in total. They use Celtx to help them create this content.

As a small team of 30, what they accomplish with Celtx is astounding – their team leads and producers complete 20 to 30 projects at a time, averaging around 30 projects a month. A large part of these projects are the videos they create to celebrate their technological breakthroughs and accomplishments. 

Before Lockheed Martin Space adopted Celtx, they used an antiquated and disconnected workflow process. They used email to communicate their ideas internally, used Word documents to format scripts, and created their storyboards from scratch; it was often more work to create the documents they were using to communicate their ideas than the project they were working on. 

After extensive research on the scriptwriting programs available, Lockheed Martin Space adopted Celtx into their workflows. Through their investigation into other softwares, they found that Celtx was the only platform available that provided audio/visual, narrative, and storyboard formatting that suited their team’s needs; it served their A-Z production requirements, all the way through to call sheets on the day of production. It was the ultimate win for their team. 

Lockheed Martin is at the top of staying within security compliance to meet government requirements, and Celtx delivered here as well – Celtx  was able to host their team’s studio on a government server, which allowed them to stay in compliance with their security measures.

Ben Dinsmore, a Senior Video Producer at Lockheed Martin Space, believes that using Multi-Column AV scripts has major benefits when working with colleagues who are not necessarily used to the traditional scriptwriting format:

A lot of our communicators are not used to seeing traditional scripts, so when we do show them something we’re working on, an AV script is really nice – it’s a lot easier for them to understand what could be happening visually as you’re writing it down. When we’re reviewing it with clients, they’re just looking at one document and not multiple. It’s great to have that option.
