Is there a way to sync / access scripts in a Celtx Studio to the app? I signed in and clicked sync but it doesn't show my scripts. I also created a script and turned on "sync" but it doesn't show up in my celtx studio.
Awesome to see you move into this space though!!

Hi, Tiann. - Integration of iPhone/iPad app with Celtx Studios is not yet available.
To sync your scripts from the server to your desktop client, you need to install the iPhone/iPad Sync tool available on our utilities page - http://www.celtx.com/utilities.html
This will add the extra import/export options under the Script menu in Celtx.
To sync a script from iPhone/iPad to server:
1. Create a script on your iPhone/iPad.
2. Enable Sync on the script on the Title/Info page, the blue circular button next to the script title.
3. Select Sync from the script list page.
This will send your script to server.

Emailing a PDF of the script and then looking through it on my Nexus One is also effective on set.
But it would be cool if I could be able to make changes so I'd like to formally request an Android app.
While I'm at it I'd also like to mention my appreciation of google docs for it's collaborative functions. If you guys used the Google Docs API to create, save and edit google docs then I think you'd have the hands down killer script writing solution.
i know that the Studio is part of your business model and it would be rendered obsolete, however, consider charging for the software after a free trial period runs out.
The way this could work is that you'd use your local celtx app to open a document stored in your google docs. You'd edit your document and every time you hit save it would be updating that google doc.
Google docs is terrible for formatting dialog and action but Celtx is amazing at it. Goole docs is amazing at collaborating and sharing docs and sending PDFs from any web browser regardless of what local software is installed. Celtx is pretty good at file sharing via the studio but to those spoiled by google docs it leaves much to be desired.
Just something to think about. Google docs. It's there. It has an API. Why not use it?

One other thing, the link to utilities above in not working. Drop the period at the end and it works as it should.

Celtx is great, but Celtx for iPad is a bit of an expensive disappointment :(
Posted by: Roy | August 03, 2010 at 02:05 PM
Thanks Sheila!
I do hope that it gets added sometime soon though. The main reason I pay for Studio is the fact that I want to get access to my scripts from anywhere when I have time to work on them, so I bought Celtx for iPad excitedly anticipating this ability. It was definitely a bit of a disappointment when I realize I paid $10 for it and still need to lug my laptop around to get to the latest copy, not to mention risk conflicting / overwriting someone else's changes to the script in studio on my team when syncing back down from my iPad.

My Ipad version of Celtx tells me i can sync no charge with your server but seems I need to pay for an account. Installed the sync tool on my desktop but can't get it to sync with my Ipad. Need some clarification here.

Hi Len - The Sync feature in the Celtx Script app is not yet integrated with the Studios so you do not need to pay for a Studio account in order for it to work.
Details on how the Sync feature works with your desktop /iPad can be found in this PDF Manual:
http://www.celtx.com/download/misc/Celtx%20Script%20Owners%20Manual.pdf
You may also find our MobileApps Forum handy:

If you continue to have trouble Len, please email me directly at sheila at celtx dot com. Thanks.

Wondering if there is any update as to when additional script types will be added. I use Celtx mainly for Comic Book and A/V scripts, so using it on the iPhone/iPad is useless at this point. I love the software and the mobile app.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I am trying to sync my script to google docs and once I do that, the scripts aren't actually showing in google docs. I've entered my login information etc. I've tried to check the google docs login information but I also can't seem to get back to that screen! Argggg. Help?

Two things:
1- I tried to log in using my facebook account, but now my scripts are in limbo. I unchecked "remember login" from the Settings tab in my iPad and created a new script and sent it to my newly created Celtx account. The new script transferred with no problem. The ones transferred with the facebook login are in limbo - and will not resync to the desktop client. How do I get them to my desktop account?
2- PLEASE!!!!, make this sync with Celtx Studio. Any word on when this will happen?
Thanks!

First: Thanks for the great product. I can't wait to use it.
Question: When I download the sync software, it opens Celtx. It asks me to restart Celtx and the extension will be installed. However, when I restart the extension isn't there and I have no way to sync my files.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Thanks

Are there any plans to have other script formats in this app? I work mostly in the Theatre or Comic formats, and would really love to have these available in the mobile version.

Hi, Phil. The next version of the Celtx Script app is scheduled to be released in very short order and includes support for Theater and AV formats. Comic will be added early in the New Year :)

Hi guys,
Any ETA on syncing with Studio?
Posted by: overtone | December 27, 2010 at 05:30 PM
Hi, overtone. Development on the sync feature between Studios and mobile apps should be completed by mid Feb /11. Please stay tuned :)

$10 is too much for me. 5 or less and I'm in :)

The app is sounds to be awesome but since I do not own an iPad I was wondering whether we had a mobile version or not. Glad to know that the next Celtrix Script is going to include support for Theater and AV formats.

Very disapointing that you cannot sync from your computer to the ipad. I paid $10 and am not happy. I have scripts already on my computer I'd like to work on my ipad while I travel and again just a major let down.
Posted by: J | January 18, 2011 at 05:58 AM
Hi J, The iPad Celtx Script app does sync with the Celtx software (v2.7) on your computer. In order for the sync feature to work, make sure you have the sync addon installed on the desktop app. That addon is available for download here: http://www.celtx.com/mobile.html#/mobile/nav-syncaddon
Be sure to read the Celtx Script manual too. - S

I was emailed a celtx script, when I try to open it in mail on my iPad, mail tells me it can't do it, even though I just paid 10 for this celtx application. Help please.

Hi Eric.
At the moment we don't support opening .celtx files as attachments from the iPad/iPhone mail client.
If you haven't already, please refer to the Celtx Script Owner's Manual:
http://www.celtx.com/download/misc/Celtx%20Script%20Owners%20Manual.pdf
If you require further assistance please email me at sheila at celtx dot com. Thanks - S

I just bought the Celtx app for my iphone and installed the plug-in so I can sync with my desktop, but it simply won't work. Everything is updated/connected, etc. I'm not sure what the problem is. Help?

Hi, Heather. Have you read the Celtx Script manual:
http://www.celtx.com/download/misc/Celtx%20Script%20Owners%20Manual.pdf
Also, make sure you are using the same un/pw when logging in to your iPhone and desktop.

Celts always managed to come up with good software...combining that with your iPhone and eureka ! :) (or however you spell it)

One of my scripts is not syncing. It hangs when I try and load it. There has to be something in the formatting, because it is the only script that is doing it, and if I save it to a new version, that version hangs... Any idea.

Sounds like you're running in to a known bug involving syncing scripts that have bold/italics or underlining in the script. The solution is to import the script in to the desktop software, do a 'Select All' and then remove all bold.italics/underline. Then export the script from the desktop back to the Sync server and then sync it to your iPad/iPhone. - sc (ps-in future please post support issues to our forum - thx - http://forums.celtx.com/

I'd love to see an Android (Honeycomb) version soon. I just found Celtx and I love it's desktop capabilities. It would be amazing to be able to use my tablet to work on my scripts anywhere.

I only own an iPad, am I able to use the full Celtx program on it or do I need an actual computer? Thanks!

My novels aren't showing up on my iPad. Is the app compatible with novel format? If so, how can I get them to show up?
Posted by: Allie | March 02, 2012 at 04:40 AM
Hi, Allie. The novel template is not yet supported in the mobile devices, however we do plan to implement it in a future release. - S
