... sharpen their pencils, top up their inkwells, lick their pen tips, bootup their word processors, stock up on [insert favorite vices /energy boosters here], lock themselves in a quiet room, surround themselves with select items of inspiration, don their favorite sweat pants, take off their socks, stretch their elbows and crack their knuckles....
