Greyfirst Corp. has just released a new version of Celtx (v.0.9.9), the first software application to provide all of the tools needed for Media Pre-Production.
Co-Founder Mark Kennedy stated, “This is the whole shebang under one roof. The entire Pre-Production process is supported in one open standards software application. Celtx includes features for developing a story, writing an industry standard screenplay, or stage play, completing a breakdown, making a storyboard and scheduling the shoot - all with one tool.”
Celtx also enables people to work collaboratively, allowing media creators to share projects with team members and to create private worksites on Celtx Project Central.
Celtx is used by independent media makers and production companies in over 125 countries. It is the software of choice for students in over 500 Universities and film schools located throughout the Globe, and has a rapidly growing user base in Europe, the USA, Australia and South America.

Details and Explanations
Storyboarding
Celtx now has storyboarding - create sequences, add images, add descriptions, drag and drop to re-order any of it, print in landscape (3X3) or portrait (2X3), and then ‘Play’ your storyboard using the built-in image viewer.
We’re waiting on you – the Celtx Community - to tell us how best to integrate the new Storyboard feature with a script, or any of the other fine features in Celtx.
Scheduling
Yes, that’s right, we’ve added Scheduling. ‘Just in Time’ Scheduling to be exact, meaning that you can work on your project right up to the last possible moment before doing a schedule for the shoot.
Features include (all drag and drop enabled), automatic Scene List generation (scraped from your script), scene sorting, detailed description dialogs for tracking location information, drag and drop Scene scheduling, scheduled and completed-flags, configurable time periods, day/week/month strip-board and grid views, printing, and a fully configurable Preferences dialog for changing any of the default settings.
Stage Play (International Template)
For our many European, South American and Asian users, we've added an International standard Stage Play editor, with support for "Act" and "Stage Direction" elements as well as local print and PDF generation. US Stage Play template coming soon!
A4 Support
Many of you will be glad to know that Celtx now supports local and PDF generation for A4 paper. This one should not have taken so long to deliver, so a thousand apologies to all the people who were putting up with the awkward 8.5x11 printing on A4 paper. Works for either a screenplay or stage play.
New Web Services Panel
We’ve re-designed the way Celtx Web Services are delivered, to what we hope is a much improved method for uploading, sharing and publishing projects.
Access management, to enable collaboration, and publishing to Project Central is now located under one Web Panel Tab.
This new approach will enable us to rapidly add new server delivered features, like versioning and granular permission management without requiring a new release of the Celtx client.
You’ll also notice some nifty –type ahead technology being used in some of the fields, like when adding collaborators to your project.
Private and Team Websites on Project Central
The new Web Service panel enables users to create private, username and password protected web sites for Celtx Projects.
The web site is viewable by either the project creator or, when shared with others to facilitate collaboration, viewable by the team. It’s a great way for everyone working on a Project to keep pace with developments.
A commenting feature will be added very soon to facilitate private discussions between team members.
New Application Interface
We refreshed the application’s look and feel with a new icon set, better arrangement of feature sets, better labelling and better over all usability.
Proxy Servers
We’ve added the ability for Celtx to work through proxy servers. In many cases Celtx will configure itself, but users have full control over the settings through the ‘Preferences’ dialog.
