Celtx Visits the Nova Scotia Community College

logo-notype.pngSeptember 15, 2006, Halifax - The Canadian based Nova Scotia Community College has been a big supporter of Celtx. The College's students being encouraged early on to use the software for all of their pre-production and scriptwriting needs.

As part of our new Celtx Emissary initiative, I traveled to Nova Scotia this week to show second year Screen Arts students how to use Celtx to facilitate collaboration and to manage their media projects. The students took to Celtx like ducks to water, quickly recognizing how powerful and useful Celtx has become in its short life. The school's appreciative course instructor, Chris Campbell, commented that  "I thought it was great and I also think that it has helped the students as well."

The NSCC's two-year Screen Arts Program covers the entire film production cycle from initial concept through to distribution, while providing a challenging, hands-on learning environment in the process. Among other things, students learn script development, the design and construction of sets, the production of film and video, editing, and set etiquette.

We hope to travel to schools and universities throughout North America, Europe and Asia to give demos and help spread the word about Celtx - so by all means let us know if your school or university would like a demo delivered by a real live member of the Celtx Team and we'll do our best to get there!

Linux Format magazine names Celtx this month's 'Hottest Pick'!

logo-notype.pngWoo Hoo!... In their LFX 83 September/06 issue, Linux Format magazine/UK has named Celtx their 'Hottest Pick' of the month as 'The best new open source software on the planet!'

Unfortunately the article isn't handy on the mag's web site just yet, but for a tidy sum you can pick it up at your favorite magazine stand or bookstore.

Software reviewer, Mike Saunders, offers up a thorough description of Celtx v 0.9.5.1 (current version 0.9.7.2), and likes it so much that he's using Celtx to plan his master novel: The Adventures of Nate!

The team would like to extend sincere thanks to Sydney-based photographer/writer and Celtx user, Mark Holder for recommending us to Mike.

Hip, Hip for Mike and Mark!
