Sea to Sea

logo-notype.png One the things we have noticed at Celtx is the number of visitors to our site that use Firefox as their Web browser. It only makes sense - Celtx is built on top of the Firefox technologies and all - but it also shows how like minded users of Celtx are to the Firefox community. Both communities are by default creative in nature. And both know a good thing when they see it!

Take for instance Banning High School in Wilmington, California, USA and compare them to the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada . Although separated by 7,000 miles, and with entirely different cultures at play, both of these schools use Celtx in their filmmaking courses. And each use the award winning Firefox Web browser. In fact the NSCC uses both Firefox and Celtx in their filmmaking lab.

From 'Sea to shining Sea', Firefox and Celtx are two friends you often find together.

East Meets West Meets East: The Art of Asian Cinema
Tuesday, January 24
2:00 pm - Filmmakers Lodge
Open to all Festival credential holders and the general public as space allows.
Not only has Asian cinema enjoyed a healthy renaissance in America over the past few years, but with a growing body of work from Asian filmmakers working in the United States, there has been a fascinating cross-pollination of themes, artists and aesthetics. What's behind this unprecedented blending of American and Asian cinema - A panel of filmmakers take up the subject of Pan-Pacific crossover and what it means to tell Eastern stories in Western ways and Western stories in Eastern ways? What are the differences, not only in storytelling and sensibility, but in production and working methods? Join us in a celebration of the art of Asian cinema.

And,....... if you ask nicely, Max might even give you your very own Celtx Tshirt!
The 25th Annual Sundance Film Festival runs from January 19 - 29, 2006 in Park City, Utah.

The DV Guru Reviews the "Incredible" Celtx 0.9.5

Ajit Anthony, one of our favorite DV Gurus, recently conducted an email interview with our Celtx Guru, Mark Kennedy. The result is this glowing article.

"Overall, this feels like an incredible application. There should be no reason why you need to be paying hundreds of dollars for any other screenwriting application."

And overall, the reponse to 95 has been very positive. We worked hard on this one, so it's nice to see that it shows. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, the Mac and Windows versions are available in English, French, Italian, Finnish, Norwegian and Japanese, with remaining localizations being updated as they trickle in. A Linux build should be posted soon too, so hang in there Linux Lovers.... we're working on it!

Celtx named in DVguru's BEST of 2005 Filmmakers' Toolkit List

Happy New Year everyone! Hope y'all had a safe and jolly holiday.

Here at Greyfirst we were tickled to learn that Celtx has been included with some very cool company as the MOST PROMISING OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE in DVguru's Best and Worst of 2005, as it applies to the filmmakers' toolkit.

"Most promising Open Source software: I (Ajit Anthony) have spoken about CELTX in length. Celtx fills a big void for screenwriters by providing the only cross-platform, free screenwriting program. But the fact that it has done all that on the Firefox framework makes it even more exciting."

Nice to see our efforts have not been in vein. We continue to work diligently to give our users what they need, and as always we encourage your feedback and always appreciate the great contributions made by the Celtx community at large.

Cheers to a lovely way to start the New Year! Check out the rest of the Guru's list here.
