Celtx releases version 0.8.8

Celtx released a major new version of its film and TV creation software today, adding over 20 new features for script writers and people working in the film and TV pre-production industries.
Billed as “Internet Ready”, Celtx is a unique and innovative application used by script writers and people working in pre-production to create film and TV content. Launched as an early beta in late Fall of 2004, Celtx has rapidly established an international following, with 10,000 downloads and users in over 40 countries around the globe.
“This is a big step forward for us, and the application.”, Celtx co-founder, Mark Kennedy, said. “We added a slew of new features that our users were clamoring for, especially the writers, and improved the media breakdown features to make Celtx easier to use.”
One thing that distinguishes Celtx from every other software offering in this market is its ability to behave like a client and a browser at the same time. “We’ve managed to trick-out Firefox, the open source web browser that Celtx is built on, to behave like a stand-alone client and, simultaneously, a web browser.”, Kennedy explained. “This provides users with a unique experience, one that marries the desktop to the Net.”
This innovative approach enables Celtx to seamlessly incorporate Web services, like the application’s unique and useful Collaboration feature, all while providing the security and peace of mind inherent in having full control over your own files. In fact, sometimes it’s hard to know when you’ve stopped using the application in desktop mode and switched over to using the Celtx web server. “We want to make the transition – moving back and forth between the desktop and the Net – as smooth and easy as possible for our users.”, Kennedy added. “Celtx is Internet ready.”
Celtx is free for download at http://www.celtx.com/download.html.
Celtx features include:
• Writing, importing, editing and publishing scripts using standard industry formatting
• Managing pre-production tasks like location and talent scouting
• Support for performing production breakdowns, including adding media such as sound files, video clips and digital pictures
• Powerful collaboration features, allowing team members to work together over the Internet
• Adherence to open standards, ensuring users have unfettered access to their data
